Shocklach and Threapwood School Association (STSA)

The STSA is an association of parents, grandparents, staff, governors and friends of Shocklach School, which exists to further good relationships between its members, the wider village community and St Edith’s church in Shocklach. A registered charity, its primary functions are to provide a friendly support network for our rural school community and to raise funds for ‘the icing on the cake’ for our children: often costly items, over and above that which the school provides, e.g. play equipment, technological items, coaches for school trips.
We are exceptionally fortunate to have so many dedicated, creative supporters who work extremely hard to make our fundraising efforts as successful as possible and also fun for all the family. The STSA is a very special organisation indeed, and one that is valued by all as an integral part of school life. If you are a parent, grandparent, governor or staff member, then you are automatically a member of the STSA and we’d like to meet you! We have half-termly meetings to which everyone is invited and all input is greatly appreciated.
As well as our many fundraising activities, we also organise social events - at Christmas we like to invite all members to a festive night out with lovely food, plentiful wine and fab Secret Santa prezzies at The Bull, our local pub just over the road from the school.

This year’s committee:

Marie Lumb – Chair
Naomi Walker & Steph Cheetham – Co-vice chair
Wendy Brown – Treasurer
Katy Probert - Secretary
Ceri Tomlins & Saralyn Chaloner – Charity Trustees

A brief look at some of the good times last year!
During the Christmas term, as well as decorating the church for services and helping with refreshments for school performances, the STSA organised a very special North Pole Expedition when we transformed the school grounds into a winter wonderland. Our children took part in a treasure trail in our lovely grounds which ended in an igloo complete with real life huskies! These fundraising efforts, along with our other Autumn fundraisers, which included a Boden sale, as well as a hugely successful Online Auction of Promises in the Easter term, raised well over £5000 for the benefit of our children!
